Story Behind ROYA 

ROYA is an Arabic name that means dream or vision. It is a lighter pronunciation of the word Ru’ya.

In the early 2000s, Dr. Rasha Al Sanea, CEO and founder of ROYA was doing her graduate studies in orthodontics, in North America. It was at that time, that the dream “ROYA” was born.

Our Team

Dr. Rasha Al Sanea

Orthodontist, Chef, Founder CEO of Roya

Dr. Al Sanea is a practising orthodontic consultant in Riyadh. She graduated as a dentist from King Saud University, college of Dentistry in Riyadh. Later she pursued graduate studies at University of Manitoba , Canada and University of Illinois at Chicago where she earned her Master’s degree and became a diplomate of the American Board of orthodontics. She is a scientific researcher and a published author in the field of orthodontics.


Rasha wanted to share Saudi Food with the world. After her certification as an orthodontist, she chose to pursue extensive culinary training at French Pastry School of Chicago and Le Cordon Bleu London. She designed a menu show casing authentic Saudi Cuisine in a modern style that represents the modern and vibrant Saudi society at the time of vision 2030.



Sustainability in sourcing ingredients from local suppliers; and empowerment of Saudi females through employment and training are core practices that Rasha aspires to maintain at ROYA.

Stephen M. Moorby

In order to guarantee that the manufacturing concept is created and brought to market in the most professional way possible, Stephen has been commissioned to oversee all aspects of “ROYA” from product development, operational management, financial modelling, branding, design and marketing with the assistance of regional and international branding and consulting agencies.

Having studied at The Thames Valley University in London. He holds a BA in Hospitality management and a Masters in Manufacturing and Industrial management. He is qualified in HACCP implementation, ISO 22000, holds advanced level CIEHO certification, and is a qualified internal auditor for BRC Global food standards.

A strategic, results driven hospitality and food manufacturing professional with solid expertise in creating and delivering retail catering operations and concepts, in addition to high volume food production facilities. Having a proven track record of developing and growing leading food manufacturing and hospitality organizations.

With over 30 years of experience in this field and almost 20 years in the production of Middle Eastern and Arabic food products, he has worked on various food manufacturing projects and restaurant operations across the Arabian gulf.

Many of these projects working with well-known brands and own label FMCG for big names such as Al RIFAI, BK, PIZZA HUT, APPLEBEES, AYYAME, BURJ AL HAMAM, CAFÉ SUPREME, KFC, SCOOP A CONE, DIET CARE to name but a few. 

Stephen was also behind the Café BAZZA casual dining middle eastern restaurant concept.
